Pumpkin Recipes

Not all giant pumpkins are safe for human (or animal) consumption due to the way they have been grown (such as which chemicals have been used). If yours is safe to eat, then before giving the cows a treat, why not try some of these recipes!

 

Stock grammas (like a large kent pumpkin) make great pies! Try making an Aussie Gramma Pie. This is a bit like an American pumpkin pie but using white sugar instead of brown sugar, and with citrus rind added. You can try substituting dried apricot instead of sultantanas for a different variation on the classic.

While usually used like zucchini when young, the mature long tromboncino can be used in baking like a more conventional pumpkin - why not try making some pumpkin damper or scones?

If your pumpkin is not suitable for cooking, then don't despair... Atlantic Giant pumpkins, field pumpkins and vegetable marrows are fun to carve and make jack-o'-lanterns!
